Lieutenants, Canonesses, Warbosses and commanders of all sorts, grab a seat but you will only need the edge because Warpforge is getting faster, fiercer and more thrilling than ever! The upcoming update v1.32.0 brings a quick 1-week event introducing Skirmish mode, a high-octane game mode that condenses all the excitement of a Classic match into fewer turns for battles that hit harder, faster.
Let’s dive into what Skirmish mode is and the rewards waiting for you when the event begins.

What is Skirmish mode?
Skirmish mode presents a faster way to experience the best of Warpforge in snappy and exciting matches. In a Skirmish, players interact in the same way they would during a Classic match, but the rules have been tailored for shorter games that are action-packed from turn one. The ruleset will change and evolve as the development of this game mode continues. The first set of rules that will be available is:
- 12-card decks. You will be able to create and save Skirmish decks in your collection.
- Maximum of 4 Legendaries (not counting the Warlord)
- Warlords have 10 less starting Health
- First player starts at 3 Energy. Second player at 4
- Players gain 2 Maximum Energy every turn
- Overtime starts sooner, on the second player’s 5th turn
- Maximum hand size reduced to 8
- No Offence cards. The Defence card is random. No mulligan. Straight into the action!
When will Skirmish mode be available?
It’s coming very soon! Skirmish mode will debut in a series of 1-week events featuring unique reward tracks that can be progressed by winning Skirmish matches. After each of these 1-week events, there will be a week of rest in which the game mode will not be available, giving us time to review your feedback and make adjustments before the next round begins.
During these events, you can expect to see the mode’s rules change. If needed, some cards or Warlords may be restricted to keep matches exciting and fair.

Event rewards
During each of these 1-week events, you will earn progress through a reward track by earning victories in Skirmishes! After reaching personal victory milestones, you will earn crystals, booster packs, random cards of higher rarities and more!
Each event’s reward track is separated from the rest, so you will be able to get rewards multiple times as you play through the multiple iterations of Skirmish mode.
Can I complete missions in Skirmish mode?
Yes! In fact, Skirmish mode will let you complete many of your daily missions and challenges faster than before. Skulls earned in Skirmish mode will count towards your daily challenge, and the faster games and smaller deck size will help you blast through your daily missions!
Skulls are claimed at the same values as in Classic mode. The crystals you earn at the end of every Skirmish match are a bit less than in Classic mode, adjusted to the lower match length of the new game mode.
The test begins soon
Please note that this is the first new game mode since Draft mode, so you can expect some bumps in the road. Some features, like replays, may not behave perfectly, and at launch, you won’t yet be able to challenge friends or Alliance members to Skirmishes (but that is a feature update we’re working on). Do let us know if you come across any of these issues through our in-game support channels so that they’re fixed in the next iteration of the game mode.
The first event will be the wildest version of Skirmish, with every card and Warlord available. As the mode evolves, certain cards may be restricted if they warp the balance too much. We’ll be watching Discord, social media, support channels and the in-game data closely, so share your experiences and help shape the future of Skirmish!
Are you ready to fight faster and harder than ever? Skirmish mode is almost here!
