The Skirmish begins with update v1.32.0!

It’s time to strike the battlefield again! Update v1.32.0 introduces the new Skirmish game mode and kickstarts a series of in-game events focused around it! Together with the new mode, this update also brings a small number of fixes and a new graphical option for players on Steam. Let’s take a quick look at all that’s coming into the game with this update.

New game mode: Skirmish

Skirmish is a high-octane game mode that condenses all the excitement of a Classic match into fewer turns. A Skirmish is played in the same way as a Classic match, but with a ruleset tailored for shorter games that are action-packed from turn one. The ruleset will change and evolve as the development of this game mode continues. The first set of rules that will be available is:

  • 12-card decks. You will be able to create and save Skirmish decks in your collection.
  • Maximum of 4 Legendaries (not counting the Warlord)
  • Warlords have 10 less starting Health
  • First player starts at 3 Energy. Second player at 4
  • Players gain 2 Maximum Energy every turn
  • Overtime starts sooner, on the second player’s 5th turn
  • Maximum hand size reduced to 8
  • No Offence cards. The Defence card is random. No mulligan. Straight into the action!

You will also be able to complete your daily challenges and missions in Skirmish mode. In fact, the faster games and reduced decks might help you complete your dailies quicker than ever! Take a look at the announcement web post to check more details on Skirmish mode.

New Skirmish events

Skirmish mode will debut in a series of 1-week events featuring unique reward tracks that can be progressed by winning Skirmish matches. After reaching personal victory milestones during each of these events, you will earn crystals, booster packs, random cards of higher rarities and more!

After each of these 1-week events, there will be a rest week in which Skirmish will not be available. This will give us time to review the feedback and make adjustments before the next round begins! These adjustments can go from tweaks to the ruleset to restricting the use of specific cards or Warlords during the next event. Each event’s reward track is separated from the rest, so you will be able to get rewards multiple times as you play through the multiple iterations of Skirmish mode.

Bug fixes

There are a number of fixes making their way into the game together with this update:

  • Sawbonez (Painboy Sniklaw’s Talent) now deals 1-2 damage correctly, instead of always dealing 1
  • Progress towards the ‘Da old Ways’ achievement is now correctly tracked
  • The Daily Streak is now correctly displayed in the main menu after reaching 14+ days. Players can still collect it from the Rewards menu, as in the past, if they choose to
  • Interrupting a praying unit will now trigger the correct VFX instead of showing a white frame

New Graphic options for Steam

Players on Steam now have access to two new options to play with inside the Graphics section of the Settings menu:

  • VSync
  • FPS Limit

Activating VSync will let you prevent screen tearing, a graphical effect caused by graphics cards and monitors being out of sync. It is often recommended to activate VSync only if you notice this screen tearing effect happen regularly.

The FPS Limit will allow you to do just that: limit the FPS of your game to a set quantity. This is helpful to keep your gameplay consistent if you notice your game running at widely variable framerates. For the first time, we are also introducing the ability to set your FPS count to Unlimited, so if you have a master-crafted PC and monitor, you will be able to see things move much, much smooooother than before.

iOS friendly challenges error

Due to an error in the last version of the game, challenging friends and alliance-mates to a match is not available on iOS devices. We are working on a fix to this error, and will be uploading it early next week. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Skirmish mode has arrived! Are you ready to fight faster and harder than ever?
