The first balance update of the year will arrive early next week! Take an early look at the changes and prepare to face the season after the update goes live. This time around, we’re focusing on taming some of the overperformers from last month’s boost to the T’au Empire, as well as some of the most pressing strategies from the new Ultramarines cards introduced with The Avenging Son’s expansion and a few other changes.
The Saim-Hann craftworld is also getting a nice boost in next week’s update, with many of their cards seeing improvements in their Spirit Stone abilities or even new ones. Take a look at the full list of changes below!

T’au Empire
- Saviour Protocols: Now creates a chosen drone in your hand instead of deploying a random one. Changed description to “Your Drones cost 1 less for the rest of this battle. Choose a Drone and add it to your hand”
- Stealth Drone: Lowered Health from 2 to 1
- Guardian Drone: Lowered Ranged from 2 to 1
Saim-Hann
- Avatar of Khaine: The Spirit Stones ability now also grants Camouflage and more Blast (from 4 to 6). Changed description to “Armour 2. (2S) Gain Blast 6 and Camouflage. Talent: Wrath of Khaine”
- Hosts of the Dead: Now deploys one Wraithguard by default. Changed description to “Deploy a Wraithguard. Spend all your Spirit Stones. For each one, deploy a Wraithguard”
- Witchfire (Witchblade Warlock talent): Lowered cost from 1 to 0
- Hemlock Wraithfighter: Spirit Stones ability increased from Blast 3 to Blast 5
- Swooping Hawk Exarch: Its rally can now target friendly units. Changed description to: “Waystone. Flying. Rally: Give Vanguard to a unit until your next turn”
- Swooping Hawk: Now has a new Spirit Stones ability. Changed description to “Waystone. Flying. (1S) Gain +1R and Flank”
- Fire Prism: Increased its damage to Armoured units from 6 to 8
- Wraithlord: Spirit Stones ability now also grants +2 Health. Changed description to: “(3S) Gain +4M, +4R and +2 Health”
- Skyborne Deployment (Wave Serpent’s Talent): Lowered cost from 2 to 1
- Wraithguard: Increased Melee from 2 to 3
- Wave Serpent: Increased Health from 7 to 8
Goff Orks
- Deffgun Loota: Damage lowered from 2 to 1-2. Changed description to “When another troop dies, deal 1–2 damage to a random enemy”
- Unbridled Carnage: Damage lowered from 2 to 1-2. Now repeats for every friendly troop instead of every friendly unit. Changed description to “Deal 1–2 damage to a random enemy. Repeat this effect for every friendly troop”
Ultramarines
- Avenging Zeal: Increased cost from 10 to 12. Its cost is no longer reduced from Warlord Codex triggers, only from Troop and Stratagem ones.
- Primarch of the XIII (Guilliman’s Talent): The bonus now only lasts until the end of the turn. Changed description to “Ephemeral. Give +1M and +1R to a friendly unit this turn”
- Master of Battle (Guilliman’s Talent): Sentry lowered from 2 to 1. Changed description to “Ephemeral. Give Sentry 1 to a friendly unit until your next turn”
- Suppressor: Its Oath ability now can only target non-Legendary Stratagems. Changed description to “Flying. Sentry 1. Oath 1: Choose a non-Legendary Stratagem you played this game and return it to your hand”
Hive Fleet Leviathan
- Termagant Brood: Changed description to “Swarm. Tide 3. When a friendly unit triggers Swarm, gain +1R”
