Some of the new Space Wolves cards joining the game

Update v1.33.0 is a game changer! Check out the full list of changes

Last week, we announced the slew of changes that are making their way into the game with the Space Wolves release. Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge v1.33.0 is here, so take a look below at the full list of new content, feature updates and everything that is included in this update. You can read a more detailed version of many of these changes in the original Studio Update.

Of note: what changed and what’s missing

Due to internal issues, there will be a couple of changes in the transition from what was originally announced in the Studio Update.

Unfortunately, a technical challenge prevented us from making the missions that are being removed from the game auto-complete when the update goes live. After the update, these missions will simply disappear, so if you want to complete them before they go away, this is your chance. To compensate, the Promo Code that will go live to celebrate the new release will also reward players with 500 All-armies campaign points.

Due to a UI issue, faction leaderboards will not be available when the update goes live. The points will be tracked in the background, so you will be able to accurately check where you’re ranking when they return in the near future.

New faction: Space Wolves

The howls of Fenris echo across the battlefields of Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge! The Great Companies of the Space Wolves join the game as a new collectable faction, ready to bring fang and fury to the Allfather’s enemies. Learn more about them and how to collect them in the last web post.

New features

  • Skirmish mode has become a permanently available game mode, perfect for jumping in for some quick, snappy games. Skirmish rankings and leaderboards have been introduced into the game.
  • You can now challenge friends to Skirmish matches.
  • A “Collector Level” has been introduced to player profiles. This collector level is increased by collecting new cards and visually upgrading them.
  • All-armies Campaign points are a new currency that allows you to progress any campaign in the game.
    • Daily missions and challenges will now give All-armies campaign points instead of faction-specific ones.
    • Players can stock up to 2000 All-armies campaign points at a time. Players can go over the limit by claiming a reward that takes them over 2000 points, but the game will prevent them from claiming more Campaign Points until they make space for them.
    • Premium campaign daily bonuses still grant faction-specific campaign points.

Changes to the core game

  • All Warlords’ base health has been reduced by 10 to align with Skirmish rules. In classic matches, Warlords will receive +10 bonus health, so your current Classic decks will perform just the same.
  • Starter decks are back! They have been redesigned as Skirmish decks. The first few nodes of campaigns have also been readjusted to grant cards that work as upgrades to starter decks, and to reward a similar number of cards in the end.
  • Offence cards are no longer available. Players who unlocked them in the forge will receive the new forge rewards automatically.
  • Defence cards will now be part of deck-building. Instead of selecting the defence card at the start of the game, players will select the Defence card they want when building a deck.
  • Missions are now smarter and more streamlined:
    • Trait-specific missions are going away. If you had one in progress when the update went live, it will have been auto-completed and ready to claim.
    • A new batch of more generic missions has been introduced.
    • Missions that ask you to play specific factions are now less common for newer players, and only show up if you have enough cards to create a deck for that faction.
  • Practice mode no longer contributes progress towards daily missions.
  • Draft mode will start following Skirmish rules. Deck building in draft will now involve selecting 1 Warlord and 4 packs of 3 cards. Rewards from Draft mode are still the same. All active Draft runs will end when the update goes live and refund the entry cost.
  • There are now Draft rerolls. Players can reroll their current pack selection once for free in every draft run. Any subsequent rerolls in the same run will have a Crystal cost.
  • Practice can now be played in Skirmish mode and Classic mode

Changes to the new player experience

  • The tutorial and early progression will be redesigned with Skirmish mode in mind.
  • First faction selection will be limited to 4 factions that we feel are better suited to start the game: Ultramarines, Orks, Black Legion and Sautekh Dynasty.
  • New accounts will not be able to see Classic mode at the start of the game. They will need to reach Collector Level 15 and have won 10 games to play Classic.

Balance Update

With this update, we’re also introducing a number of balance changes, focused on adapting the functionality of two faction mechanics only for Skirmish and slowing down the Sororitas’ prowess after last month’s buffs:

Dark Angels

  • Only in Skirmish mode, Secrets will now be created upon reaching 4 quest points, instead of 3

Adepta Sororitas

  • Only in Skirmish mode, Pray has been changed to “Do an Action instead of attacking. Gain 1 Faith. Gain another 1 Faith at the start of your next turn, unless interrupted by damage”
  • Sister Novitiate: her health buff has been rolled back from 3 to 2. Now she has a new Faith ability. Her description now reads: “(3F) Gain +1 Health. Pray: Deploy a Sister Novitiate”
  • Sacred Rose Sister: Increased her Faith requirements by 1. Changed description to: “(2F) Gain +1M and +1R (4F) Gain +1 Health. Pray: Gain Shield”
  • Miraculous Feat: Increased the Faith requirement by 3. Changed description to: “Give Invulnerable to a friendly unit this turn. (6F) Extend effect until your next turn”
  • Fury of the Righteous (Erika’s talent): Increased the Faith requirements by 1 and 2. Changed description to: “Ephemeral. Deal 1 damage. (4F) Deal 2 additional damage (9F) Stun the target”

Update v1.33.0 will go live at around 11:30 am UTC, with the Space Wolves arriving on the battlefields of Warpforge a bit later, at around 2 pm UTC. Are you ready to command the savage warriors of Fenris into battle?
