Sharpen your blade and ready your bolter, there’s a new way to play draft mode in Warhammer 40,000 Warpforge: draft events! Prepare to recreate iconic rivalries in the battlefields of Warpforge together with your Alliance.
What are draft events?
Draft events are awesome ways to compete together with your Alliance for the top of the ladder by playing in draft mode. While a draft event is active, Draft Mode will be transformed for a limited time to represent iconic battles, with a unique set of factions and warlords available and exclusive Alliance Trophies to earn. This does not mean that Draft Mode as you know it is going away, though. Draft events will only be active for a limited time to celebrate the world of Warhammer 40,000 with some extra fun and rewards.
The first draft event will start very soon! This event will pit the Ultramarines against Hive Fleet Leviathan in an epic battle. This draft event’s runs are very similar to Draft runs, but there are a few key differences:
- At the beginning of a draft event run, you will get to choose from among 4 Warlords, 2 coming from the Ultramarines and 2 from Hive Fleet Leviathan. This means only 2 factions are available during the event, so take it into account when drafting your deck!
- Some events may feature special Warlords that will command their factions while the event is active. In this event, Demetrian Titus steps into the battlefields of Warpforge for the first time, ready to lead the Ultramarines against the Tyranid menace!
- Premium event entries paid with Blackstone will always offer these special characters during the Warlord selection stage, so beginning a Premium run will ensure you get to pick Titus as your Warlord.
- Fighting in an event will also contribute the Skulls you earn in matches to your Warlord’s side, which will decide which side wins. Who will you join? Ultramarines or Hive Fleet Leviathan?
How do I take part in a draft event?
You can start a draft event run the same way as always, which means you get a free draft event run every day! Simply go to the draft event mode by selecting it in the Battle menu, choose if you would like to start a free run or a Premium one (in exchange for Blackstone) and your draft event run will begin.
During the first event, you will also be able to begin a Premium run spending x10 the usual Blackstone. Where there is risk, there is also promise, because starting one of these x10 runs will also provide x10 rewards and x10 Skulls to your Alliance and the faction of your warlord!
Battle together to bling out your alliance
Taking part in a draft event with your alliance is a great way to grow your collection while unlocking cool mementoes of your victories. If you are a member of an Alliance, taking part in a draft event will contribute all Skulls earned in draft matches to a temporary tally for your Alliance. Once an Alliance reaches certain milestones, it unlocks a reward for all Alliance members who have contributed at least one Skull during the event.
The highest reward reached will be ready to collect once the event ends. All Alliances earning a reward will also earn a special trophy exclusive to this event! The top 10 Alliances in the event leaderboard will get a higher tier of the trophy to commemorate their efforts.
Offence and Defence cards are making their way into draft mode
No matter if you are playing an Event or a regular Draft mode, you will now start seeing more Offence and Defence card options after the first event begins! Offence & defence cards should start appearing in Draft Mode, once players reach a certain number of victories.
- Players with 0-2 victories only use the initial Defence card for their faction (same as before)
- Players with 3-5 victories get to choose between Normal and one Offence card (no choice of Defence cards)
- Players with 6-8 victories get to choose between two Offence cards and two Defence cards
- Players with 9-11 victories are able to select any Offence available against the opponent’s faction or any Defence card available to their faction.
If two players in different brackets are paired together, the player with fewer victories will determine how many Offence and Defence options are available for both.
Similarly to when you are drafting cards at the start of a draft run, you will not need to have Offence or Defence cards unlocked to see them during your draft or event run.
F.A.Q.
Q: What if I leave an Alliance I have already contributed Skulls to during the event?
A: When a player leaves an Alliance, their Skulls contributed remain in the Alliance tally. If the player then joins another Alliance, they will have to play again in the event to start contributing Skulls to their new Alliance and to earn the Alliance reward at the end of the event.
Q: And if I then return to that Alliance?
A: The progress you contributed to an alliance during an event is not lost if you leave it. If you re-join an Alliance you left during the same event, you will continue your progress where you left it.
Q: Is regular Draft Mode going away?
A: No. When the draft event ends, the regular Draft Mode will return. Draft events run only for a limited time, as a way to shake things up in Draft Mode limiting the card pool and giving a common goal to Alliances to make them more fun and engaging.
Q: What happens if the event ends and I have not yet finished my event run?
A: When an event ends, if a player has an ongoing run with at least one match played, they will collect the reward crate corresponding to their current victories. If a player had a premium run (paid with Blackstone) started and no matches played, they will get the Blackstone paid reimbursed.
Q: My Alliance has reached a new milestone. When can I collect my reward?
A: If a player is part of an Alliance which has unlocked a reward crate in the event, and they had contributed at least one Skull to this Alliance in the event, they also get to collect the highest Alliance reward unlocked at the end of the event.
