Update v1.27.2 brings stylish new additions into Warpforge!

Greetings commanders! Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge just doubled its initial faction lineup (plus all of the additional content), and there is so much left to explore! Today, we are performing the first of a series of updates introducing new features and revisiting key aspects of the game.

Following Warhammer Skulls, we’re also taking steps to improve how we communicate with you, the player base. Our aim is to give a more detailed view into the changes introduced in each update, the reasoning behind these changes and what we’re planning to do in the future. Please note that not all Release notes posts will be as detailed, but we will strive to make changes clearer as we march forward. Read on to discover what changed today!

Bug fixes

The Emperor’s Children joined the game last month, as part of Warhammer Skulls! With Lucius at the helm, the new faction carved their legend in Warpforge, and the Ultramarines got some fresh updates issued by the Imperium in the last balance update. However, a few unruly interactions slipped through—here’s what’s been fixed since the release:

  • Ecstasy will now trigger correctly while a troop with this trait is attacking a Warlord enhanced with Hallowed Martyrs.
  • Avenging Zeal will now correctly reduce its own cost when Stratagems trigger their Codex effects. Remember that a Stratagem only triggers its Codex effect if paying its cost reduces your available energy to 0.
  • Damage from Lucius’ ability will now correctly destroy Remnants before they are revived.
  • The Hunta Rig‘s Rally is now skipped if there are no available slots on the enemy’s side of the battlefield.
  • The Emperor’s Children practice deck description is now correctly displayed on all devices.
  • Veldras’ ability now triggers consistently before resolving Elixir effects.
  • Rapid Evisceration now puts an Infractor in play if it kills a friendly troop.
  • Endless Servitude now correctly sets the current Health of a troop at 1, instead of setting its maximum Health, making it able to heal afterwards.
  • Troops with abilities that trigger automatic attacks (such as the Unleashed Trampla Squig) will no longer trigger these abilities if they are stunned.
  • The Flawless Blade Champion will now trigger its ability once, instead of indefinitely until the troop dies (yes, we suffered that one too).

New feature: Styles

It’s time to conquer the battlefield in style! Update v1.27.2 introduces the possibility to enter battle with an alternative look on a Warlord in your collection!

Abaddon the Despoiler is the Warlord chosen to premiere this feature with a brand new Cel-shaded style, ready to finish a task started millennia ago, but more will be coming in the future. You can head to the shop to collect this snazzy new cosmetic in exchange for gold. There are two options available:

  • A basic offer featuring Abaddon’s Cel-shaded Style and 5 Black Legion booster packs
  • A full bundle featuring Abaddon’s Cel-shaded Style, 20 Black Legion booster packs and a slew of exclusive cosmetics, including a Title, Avatar and Card back!

Please note that a Style cosmetic can not act as a Warlord alone, meaning you need the regular version of the Warlord to play with it. Acquiring a Style does not unlock the base form of the Warlord, but it will unlock the possibility to collect it from your collection menu in exchange for 50% of its regular Crystal price.

New Feature: Auto-Zoom

We are very proud of how the art team has been able to capture each faction’s personality and theme in-game in the awesome battle arenas. Wanting to showcase how great they look in the game, however, had an unfortunate side effect on the game’s general legibility, particularly on small-screen devices.

To improve battlefield legibility, this update introduces a new “Auto-Zoom” feature. This feature will be enabled by default in mobile devices, and can be enabled on PC as well. If it is enabled, the camera will automatically zoom in and out to showcase the current number of units in a battle as best as possible.

Players will also be able to zoom in and out manually using touchscreen controls and the mouse wheel, as well as move the camera around. While zoomed in, players can return the camera to its default position within a game by pressing a button that will appear on the left side of the screen.

This is the first step we’re taking to improve the feel of the game. Stay tuned for more in the future!

Achievements and more space in the shop

Update v1.27.2 also introduces a new list of Emperor’s Children achievements into the game! Those of you who have already begun your collection of Lucius’ finest will probably get spammed with glorious messages of achievement progress when you next log into the game, so get ready for the rain of greatness!

With the increasing number of cards in the game, it has become increasingly difficult to have a specific card appear in the shop. We are aware that this can be an issue for some users and have it on our radar to further investigate, but for the time being, we will soon increase the number of slots in the in-game card shop to 10.

What’s missing: Emperor’s Children troop VO

At the time of the faction’s release, we made a statement announcing that many of the sounds from the new faction would not be available when the Emperor’s Children first struck the battlefields of Warpforge due to an error. While we were able to give a voice to the full roster of Emperor’s Children Warlords, the faction’s troops are still silent.

Unfortunately, the issue that prevented us from giving them a voice still persists. The team has greatly enjoyed working on such a charismatic and histrionic faction, and we are working to finally bring the Emperor’s Children the praise and attention they deserve while we work on what’s next for Warpforge. We appreciate your patience while we solve this issue.

What’s next

Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge has grown a lot in terms of content. As we stated at the start of this web post, the game now has doubled the number of factions available when it first started, added many more characters and troops in other content drops, and there are so many more left to come! While making new factions available in the game is awesome, new content is not the only way we want to make Warpforge grow.

We will share more details of what’s coming during the first week of July. Until then, sharpen your blades and prepare for the final weeks of the current ranked season!
